Location Decisions’ Managing Director Andreas Dressler moderated a panel discussion at the Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum, held in Greenville, South Carolina on September 12, 2018. The session, entitled “the risks of complacency in the current economic and political environment”, focused on how global risks are likely to impact corporate investment and location decisions.

Dan Tawfik from risk management advisory firm Control Risks began the session with a presentation on the various risks facing companies globally, ranging from geopolitical conflict and trade disputes to cybersecurity and weather-related supply-chain disruptions. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Andreas Dressler, where Site Selectors Guild members spoke about the influence of these risks on how companies invest and where they choose to locate new corporate facilities. The participants in the discussion were site selection consultants Darin Buelow from Deloitte, Didi Caldwell from Global Location Strategies, Ulrich Schmidt from KPMG and Tracey Hyatt Bosmann from Biggins Lacy Shapiro. The panelists spoke about the importance of location strategy as part of overall corporate risk mitigation and provided examples of companies changing their investment plans in response to current risks.

The Site Selectors Guild is the association of the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants. Andreas Dressler has been a member of the organization since 2011.
